This is a great recipe! While in Hawaii on vacation about six years ago, our condo had a recipe contest. The prize was a dinner cruise on a wonderful yacht. Well, this original recipe I created overnight took first prize and we enjoyed our dinner cruise on the ocean!
You will need:
4 pkgs. chicken drummettes
honey, 1/2 cup
soy sauce, 1/2 cup
teriyaki marinade, 1/2 cup
minced garlic, 6 cloves
minced ginger, one 2 inch long piece
Karo syrup, 1/4 cup
Wash and pat dry the chicken pieces. Place in a single layer, parts touching, in a 9x13 pan. Sprinkle minced garlic and ginger over the chicken.
Now, set the rest of the ingredients out. What you want to do is to first pour about 1/2 to 1 cup of honey over all the chicken (this is to taste). Then pour about 1/4 cup soy sauce over all the chicken. Then add the teriyaki marinade, about 1/2 cup. Finally, drizzle corn syrup over all of it.
Bake at about 375 degrees for about one hour. While this is baking, you need to take it out every 20 minutes, check the color and taste and turn the parts. This should cook to a mahogany color, and the sauce should thicken and acquire a teriyaki flavor. Add whatever it needs while cooking, more honey for sweetness, more marinade for depth, more corn syrup for thickening the sauce. All these flavors together will result in a great sauced chicken. Served with white, fluffy rice, this is really a winner.
