Fragrant Sliced Apples

Simple to prepare and the taste is outstanding! Who can resist apples, cinnamon and syrupy sauce? Serve this over ice cream, sautéed bananas, or slices of cake.

You will need:

4 sliced, peeled, and cored apples
1/2 cup sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp vanilla
lemon juice
4 tbls butter

Heat the butter until sizzling and add the apple slices which have previously been sprinkled with lemon juice.

Sauté on medium heat, sprinkle with cinnamon and vanilla, and a dash of nutmeg. Stir often, turning apples to evenly coat with the sugar, cinnamon mixture. The sugar will break down, creating a syrupy mixture. Reduce heat, and cook slowly, stirring often. Taste and adjust seasonings.

Serve hot over ice cream or cake, or as a sauce for banana splits. This is also enjoyable over hot, split muffins, waffles, or pancakes.
